🏅Breaking down the bill that would abolish the NCAA forever
How would it work... and is it even a good idea?
Hey there,
While everyone (including myself) was clamoring about transfer portal drama over the last few weeks, an inconspicuous bill was introduced on Capitol Hill that would change college sport’s governance system forever. The bill was filed by Rep. Michael Baumgartner (R-WA), and if passed, would take radical steps toward overhauling college sports – including a complete dissolution of the NCAA.
We’re starting a series today to examine every part of the sweeping bill, which includes conference realignment, capping coaching salaries, and replacing the NCAA with an entirely different governance system. We’ll break down each piece of the document one-by-one – talking through how this bill would affect college sports were it to get passed.
Sound good? Good.
