Did you enjoy the improbable Indiana football story? Well, today I’ll preview who might produce the next unlikely national championship. If you’re betting on the next college sports fairytale, look no further than Nebraska men’s basketball — the only power conference program to have never won an NCAA tournament game and the ninth-losingest power conference program in college basketball history. 

Now? The undefeated Huskers are ranked No. 7, and I’ve got a pretty compelling argument for why this team is for real and very much worth watching.

Sorry to sound like your idealistic third-grade school teacher, but ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!

That was the takeaway Monday night when Indi-freaking-ana won the national championship in college football. If you pitched the 2025 Indiana season as a movie script, a producer would’ve shoved it into a paper shredder for being too unrealistic. And yet, here we are. 

Thanks to NIL and revenue sharing, the college sports landscape has been flipped on its head — and logic-defying stories like Indiana’s are unfolding in real life. Money matters, of course. But it’s not the whole story. With unlimited transfers now baked into the system, the real separator has become a coach’s ability to evaluate talent, build a roster that fits and manage it all.

Which brings us to Nebraska basketball, possibly the next “this can’t be real” script.
