If you opt out of the re-read, that’s okay – we’ll give you a quick refresher: The way that Baumgartner is trying to “restore” college sports here is by eliminating most profit motives within the college sports ecosystem.
How? Well, with a somewhat “socialistic” economic structure – one that redistributes most of the profits equally amongst schools and players. By eliminating profit motives, he sees downstream stability in a variety of ways, especially in relation to the transfer portal.
